Jean-Paul Llopart was a biologist and naturopath. Rosanne Verlé was a beautician. What united them was a conviction that was still radical in France in 1972: that effective skincare does not need synthetic preservatives, chemical emulsifiers, or petrochemical ingredients – and that nature and efficacy are not opposites. Together they founded PHYTAL – establishing the approach of Naturo-Esthétique®: the combination of naturopathy, phytotherapy, and professional aesthetics. From the start, the brand was exclusively aimed at beauticians. Not because the products were too complex for laypeople, but because the approach requires professional application and individual skin diagnosis.
In 1993, the laboratory moved to Caillac in the Lot – to a former wine cellar amidst the southern French vineyards, near Cahors. This location remains the production site for the entire brand to this day. In 2004, Thierry Logre, a biologist and committed phytotherapist and aromatherapy expert, took over the laboratory and continued it as an independent company. The brand became PHYT'S, joined Groupe NATURE COS, and gained reach – without changing the founders' core principles.
Today, PHYT'S employs its own research and development team in Alenya (Pyrénées-Orientales), produces entirely in Caillac on a 15,000 m² site, and is represented in numerous countries across four continents – including Switzerland. The brand is Cosmébio-certified and meets the requirements of the manufacturing standard ISO 22716.
