Care for dry skin

Retain moisture, strengthen the barrier, relieve tension

Dry skin feels tight after cleansing, appears rough, and reacts more quickly to cold, heating air, or sun. This is not due to sensitivity – but because its lipid layer is thinner and loses moisture faster than other skin types.

Care for dry skin combines two levels: moisture-binding ingredients that retain water in the skin, and lipid-rich textures that prevent it from escaping again. Both together – in the right order.

Preserve moisture

Dry skin loses water more quickly. Moisture-binding ingredients keep the water content stable in the long term.

Strengthen skin barrier

An intact lipid layer seals in moisture and protects against tightness and irritation.

Choose the right textures

From serum to facial oil: The order determines how well dry skin is cared for.

Dry skin doesn’t need volume – it needs understanding of what it lacks.

Hydration & Water Retention

Why dry skin cannot retain moisture

Dry skin produces less sebum than normal skin – this is genetically determined. The hydrolipid film that protects the skin surface is thinner and less stable. The result: water evaporates faster into the environment (transepidermal water loss), and irritants penetrate more easily from outside.

Hyaluronic acid draws water into the skin layers and binds it there – high molecular weight on the surface, low molecular weight a bit deeper. Glycerin and Aloe Vera complement as natural moisturizing factors. Important: moisture alone is not enough – without a sealing cream, it evaporates quickly again.

Serum first, on slightly damp skin. Then the cream on top – this way moisture is locked in instead of evaporating.

Barrier & Lipids

What weakens the skin barrier – and how you can rebuild it

A weakened skin barrier is often the starting point for everything else in dry skin: tightness, redness, cracks. When lipids are missing, the natural protective film becomes unstable. Irritants penetrate, moisture escapes – a cycle that intensifies without targeted care.

Ceramide are skin's own lipids that rebuild the protective layer. Shea butter and Squalane supplement the skin's fat content and improve suppleness. Panthenol soothes irritated areas and supports regeneration.

No strongly foaming cleansers, no aggressive scrubs. Less, but specifically tailored – that brings dry skin back into balance.

Routine & Textures

The right texture for every season

Not every dry skin needs the same care all year round. In summer, lighter but lipid-rich emulsions are often enough. In winter – when cold and heating air put extra stress on the skin – the skin needs richer creams with a higher fat content.

A basic routine for dry skin: gentle cleansing without drying surfactants – hydrating serum on slightly damp skin – rich cream to seal in – optional facial oil as the last step.

Weekly moisturizing masks provide additional support for the skin. Introduce new products gradually so the skin can adjust. The right texture doesn’t feel heavy – it lays on the skin like a pleasant protective film.
