Hand care

Intensive care for the most stressed body area

Hands are stressed daily like hardly any other part of the body: frequent washing, cold, sun, household chemicals, and mechanical friction attack the skin. At the same time, hands lack the protective mechanisms of facial skin – hardly any sebaceous glands, no hair as a buffer, direct UV exposure.

Good hand care starts with gentle cleansing, combines intensive hydration with lipid-rich active ingredients, and protects against UV – all year round, not just in summer. Here you will learn how targeted hand care works and why it should be a fixed part of your daily routine.

Intensive care

Hands dry out quickly and need regular moisture and lipids – ideally after every wash.

Protection from UV and cold

Hands are exposed to UV radiation all year round. Sunscreen visibly slows down light-induced skin aging on the hands.

Night Regeneration

In the evening, use a rich hand mask or an intensive balm – the night is the best time for deep hand regeneration.

Hands tell more about us than we think – they deserve just as much care as the face.

Skin biology of the hands & moisture supply

Why hands dry out so quickly – and what really helps

The back of the hand has hardly any sebaceous glands – the natural protective film is almost completely missing. At the same time, hand skin is washed multiple times daily, which further removes the remaining protective film. Cold narrows the blood vessels and reduces circulation. The result: hands dry out, brittle spots form, small cracks hurt.

Hyaluronic acid and Glycerin bind moisture in the upper skin layer. Shea butter, Almond oil and Jojoba oil provide lipids and form a protective film. For heavily stressed or cracked hands, Urea (carbamide) containing formulations are especially effective – they penetrate deeply and soften thickened, rough skin.

Apply a little cream after every wash – that sounds complicated, but it is the simplest and most effective measure. A small hand cream by the sink, one on the desk, one in the office: visibility makes consistency easier. In the evening, use a richer formulation – the night is the most effective time window for intensive hand regeneration. Those who place hand cream next to the washbasin, on the desk, and on the nightstand create the conditions for consistency: visibility makes routine easier. Applying cream once a day shows little difference. Doing it after every wash, you will notice after two weeks: the skin changes noticeably – dry spots heal, rough areas become softer, the overall feeling improves.

Light-induced skin aging on the hands

UV protection for hands – the forgotten Anti-Aging step

Hands are exposed to UV radiation all year round – while driving, walking, or sitting at a desk by the window. UVA penetrates glass and is the main cause of pigmentation spots, loss of elasticity, and premature skin aging. Hands often show light-induced damage earlier than the face because they rarely get sun protection.

Hand creams with integrated SPF 30–50 protect and care at the same time – the most comfortable solution for everyday use. Vitamin C visibly lightens existing pigmentation spots on the back of the hand and neutralizes free radicals. Niacinamid evens out skin tone and refines the skin texture.

For those with pigmentation spots on their hands: patience and consistency are the key factors. Daily UV protection plus brightening ingredients in the evening – after six to eight weeks, the first improvements become visible. Without daily sun protection, any brightening cream has little effect. A small practical tip: apply sun protection for the hands in the morning together with facial sun protection – this way it won’t be forgotten and the step is done in seconds. Those who do this consistently for six months will see a clear difference in skin tone and pigmentation.

Daily Care & Weekly Extras

Hand care as a routine – what is useful daily, what is useful weekly

An effective hand care routine doesn’t need many steps – it needs consistency. Hands are the only part of the body we have to wash multiple times a day – each wash removes part of the protective film. Applying cream immediately afterwards closes this cycle. Skipping it leaves the skin unprotected. Daily: gentle cleansing, followed immediately by hand cream with SPF. In the evening: richer hand cream or hand oil as the last step before sleep. Apply on slightly damp skin – this noticeably improves ingredient absorption.

Weekly: a gentle hand scrub removes dead cells, smooths rough patches, and improves hand cream absorption. Then use an intensive hand mask – simply apply a generous layer of hand cream, put on cotton gloves, and leave on for 20–30 minutes or overnight.

For very dry or cracked hands: consistent care over weeks instead of a one-time intensive treatment. The skin on the back of the hand regenerates more slowly than facial skin – those who stick with it will see and feel a clear difference after three to four weeks. The product selection below shows you which hand care products in our range combine intensive nourishment and protection.
